The Tenant Education Program helps tenants get the knowledge and skills to keep themselves and their families safely housed. The Tenants Union provides empowerment-based tenant counseling, education and assistance to help tenants learn their rights and take action to resolve housing problems. Trained non-attorney Tenant Counselors offer free phone and walk-in tenant counseling services to assist people with questions about landlord-tenant laws and discuss strategies to prevent housing loss.

Topics that will be covered include: Understanding Landlord-Tenant Laws Tools for Tenants Best Practices & Tips for Renters FAQs: Landlord-Tenant Laws Tenant Education Workshops & Advocacy The Washington State Residential Landlord-Tenant Act and other laws impacting renters How your rights can protect you as a renter Tenant and landlord responsibilities Laws regarding rule changes, rent increases, repairs and deposits How to apply and credit screening issues Resources available if you are a victim of discrimination, harassment or retaliation
