NAACP Statement on 1/30 Police Friendly Fire Shooting

My Dear Community,

We are saddened by this incident as our African American communities can undoubtedly relate to this unfortunate incident. While our communities are policed, we continue to face unprecedented, wrongful police shootings and this vicious assault on our communities only highlights other unfortunate police shootings, like those in friendly fires.

We are undoubtedly saddened by the loss of Officer Donald Sahota, and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family and community. We hope to continue to work together as a community to eradicate unnecessary police shootings and violence in all our communities, but we truly have to be transparent about police training in all of its communities.

In solidarity,

Jasmine Tolbert

President
